Blogs & Blog Readers

 Feed Readers

There are several Feed Readers to consider that can help us stay up-to-date with the latest news, trends, and resources in the field of librarianship. The Feed Reader that I chose is Feedly.

Feedly is a widely used RSS feed reader that allows you to organize and follow your favorite blogs, websites, and news sources in one place. It offers a clean and intuitive interface, customizable categories, and the ability to save articles for later reference.

Some other feeder readers that I came across are Inoreader, Flipboard, and Pocket.

Inoreader is another powerful RSS feed reader that offers advanced features such as rules, filters, and tags to help you organize and manage your feeds effectively. It also has a user-friendly interface and provides options for social sharing and collaboration. I feel that this feed reader would be beneficial for collaboration between schools and librarians but it did not offer an organizational flow like Feedly.

Flipboard is a visually appealing feed reader that presents articles and content in a magazine-like format. It curates news and articles based on your interests and allows you to create customized magazines to share with others. Although it is visually appealing I found that it was tedious to set up and it became more of an aesthetics project rather than information dense.

While not a traditional feed reader, Pocket is a popular bookmarking tool that allows you to save articles, blog posts, and webpages for offline reading. It integrates well with various platforms and can be a useful tool for curating resources. However, Pocket's home page and visual appeal lack a more user-friendly platform and are not graphically pleasant.

  2. Trinidad,
I also chose Feedly because of the ease and all it has to offer but I really enjoyed reading your critiques on Inoreader, Flipboard, and Pocket since I did not have a chance to check them out. I also followed some of the same blogs on Tumblr. I loved yours! It was creative and educational. Great job!

  3. Trinidad,
I can echo our classmates above and your actions by choosing Feedly as well. I liked how streamlined the page was. I'll have to check out the "We are Librarians" blog based on your recommendation. It sounds like a great place to connect with others in our profession to get helpful tips, tricks, and positivity.

  4. Love your tumblr page! I've had a tumblr since 2012 but it was definitely not education related. I used to post fashion ideas, quotes, or music I was listening to. Every once in a while I'd post a personal picture of my what was going on in my life. I deleted that account but I now have a librarian tumblr account. So fun!
